Salto Angel, (Salto Churún Merú)
Salto Angel, (Salto Churún Merú) found in Venezuela particularly located at Canaima National park in Gauya River (Rio Gauya), tributary of Rio Churún. The last in turn is tributary of Rio Caroni. The name - Gauja - to the river has been given by Latvian Alejandro Laime, who was the first to reach this waterfall by land.

One of the greatest natural wonders of the world, magnificent Angel falls, remains virtually masked to mankind in the rugged jungle and mountain of Venezuela. Today, Angel Falls is the greatest tourist draw in Venezuela.

The other Gauja river is located in Latvia - in fact it is among the most beautiful rivers of Latvia. Often there is made mistake by telling that this waterfall is on Rio Churún. The Salto Angel Falls is the highest in record having 979 meters high.

At the lower part the waterfall is 150 meters wide. Europeans discovered the waterfall in 1935. Waterfalls is named after James Angel - American adventurer, who had to make an emergency landing with his plane nearby in 1937. Nestled deep in the recesses of Canaima National Park in the Venezuelan state of Bolivar, the towering waterfall drops from a height of 979 meters off the top of Auyantepui. Known in Venezuela as "El Salto Angel," the waterfall is 19 times the height of Niagara Falls.

Canaima National Park

named Angel Falls - Kerekupai-Meru, meaning “falls of the water to the deepest site”, in Pemon language. The mighty cascade is named after Jimmy Angel, an American pilot who landed on top of Auyantepui in 1937 while searching for gold. Angel's four-seater plane got stuck on top of the mountain and he, his wife and two companions had to trek for 11 days before finding another human being. The story of the discovery of this amazing cataract makes an unusual tale of adventure and disappointment, as Jimmy Angel was in fact searching for gold.

Formed more than 130 million years ago, the tepuis are massive and shrouded in clouds, with sheer drops that make navigation seem impossible. And the dense surrounding jungle makes you feel as if you've tumbled back in time to a prehistoric age. In fact, the soaring tepuis were the inspiration for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's 1912 novel "The Lost World." Nearly a century later, millions of tourists visit the area annually.

To see this giant stream of water falling is an emotional experience that can’t be equaled. Angel falls, tumbles freely for some 807 meters. The cataract continues through almost another 172 meters of less rugged fall until it meets the jungle floor of a valley. The river then flows on and eventually joins with other streams to meet the Orinoco.

Angel Falls the highest waterfall in the world is also the most isolated one, the nearest road ends110 miles to the north. The jungle and mountain region is practically uninhabited. Indians shun the area of the falls, believing it to be a mystic land of the thereafter. Surely, it isn't difficult to imagine the awe of the Indians. Frequently Auyantepui remains shrouded in clouds, and the falls seem to valley viewers to be tumbling from an obscure heaven. Angel Falls is a unique and breathtaking natural wonder consider by many people as the eighth natural wonder of the world. From 1940 Angel falls is an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Visit Angel Falls - The best way to get to the Angel Falls is to rent a plane to the village of Canaima from Caracas (the capital of Venezuela), Puerto Ordaz or Ciudat Bolivar. After you get to Canaima you will take a river trip to the Angel Falls trail.

When to visit Angel Falls - It is best advised to visit the Angel Falls during the rainy between May and November, as the falls will have a more spectacular view. But if you can’t arrange a trip during this period the Angel Falls will still be worth to see.

This is the pride of Birmingham Parks.Located at Cannon Hill Park, 2 Russell Road, Moseley, Birmingham in West Midlands,UK B13 8RD. The park has two lakes, rowing boat facilities, tennis, fishing and a host of activities particularly during the summer months.  Cannon Hill Park is one of the premier parks in Berminham and has been awarded Green Flag status. With beautiful flowerbeds, lakes, pools and a wonderful collection of trees, it's easy to see why. There's plenty of opportunity for exercise at the park's tennis courts, bowling and putting greens and wildlife enthusiasts can follow the walkways and cycle routes longside the River Rea.

Conservation area within the park includes a 5 acre woodland known as the 'RSPB Centenary Plantation'. There is also a wildflower meadow, which is sown each year with cornfield annuals such as field poppy, cornflower and corn marigold, providing visitors to the Park with a spectacle which is very rare in the urban environment. Traditional forms of land management are used to enhance this beautiful area, less than 2 miles from the centre of Birmingham.

These park is an ideal venue  wherein ambiance is really sounds for families with children's play areas and boats for hire on the lake in the summer. There are plenty of picnic areas and refreshments are available at the Garden Tea Rooms and the Midland Arts Centre.

The Havasu Falls it is one of the most beautiful and photographed waterfalls in the world. This is an absolutely amazingly beautiful waterfall located in a remote canyon of Arizona, USA. The water flows out of limestone, which gives it a pleasing blue-green hue. The falls consist of one main chute that drops over a 37 metres (120 feet) vertical cliff (due to the high mineral content of the water, the falls are ever-changing and sometimes break into two separate chutes of water) into a large pool.

The hike to Havasu Falls is located about ten miles in total. Beginning at Hualapai Hilltop, the trail to the waterfall down to the bottom of the canyon below. Although the first part of the trip down steep, it is easy to handle and becomes less intense after the first mile and a half or so, moderately suitable for hikers. Depending on when you make the trip, the Arizona heat can be stifling, so be sure to bring plenty of water for the journey.

Founded by the Romans, Valencia has been the home of many cultures over its history: Romans, Visigoths, Moors and the Aragonese all made the city an important cultural and financial centre.

In the year 1094, Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, called El Cid Campeador, conquered Valencia on behalf of the Christians, but the city later fell to the Almoravids in 1102. Following the Moorish domination, it was in 1238 that James I of Aragon ( 9Kb ) finally reconquered the city, and founded the Kingdom of Valencia, with its characteristic legislative privileges (Furs).

During the 15th and 16th centuries, Valencia became one of the major economic powers on the Mediterranean seaboard. It was the time of the Valencian siglo de oro (Golden Age), which was characterized by splendour in the arts at the hands of Joanot Martorell (author of Tirant lo Blanc, the first modern European novel), Ausias March, Roig de Corella, Isabel de Villena, Jordi de Sant Jordi and Jaume Roig, among others.

During the War of Spanish Succession, Valencia sided with archduke Charles of Austria, and after the victory of the Bourbons at the Battle of Almansa (April 1707), Phillip V abolished the local privileges, or fueros. In 1874, Alfonso XII was proclaimed constitutional king at Sagunto, north of Valencia.

When democracy was restored, the Land of Valencia was given its present Autonomous Statutes in 1982. The history of the city, now the capital of the Land of Valencia, is both rich and varied, providing a patrimony that has converted it into one of the major cities in Spain on both cultural and economic levels.

Brief Information on the Taj Mahal, Agra, India

Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal is situated in Uttar Pradesh state of India. It is located in Agra city around 210 kms away from New Delhi, the capital of India. Taj Mahal is well known as the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements from Persian, Islamic and Indian architectural styles. It has been declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1983 and is one of the 7 wonders of the world! It is made of pure white marble. The marble shimmers in silvery white color in the moonlight and at the end of day reflects the fiery tints of the setting sun. The Taj Mahal in all its timeless beauty still remains an inspiration for writers, poets, painters and photographers. Lovers still meet here in the full moon nights in the shadow of the world's most famous monument of love.

The Taj Mahal stands on the banks of the Yamuna River. It was built in the memory of the stunningly beautiful Mumtaz (Arjumand Bano Begum) by Shahjahan (Prince Khurram). In 1631, Shahjahan went on an expedition to the south India and as always, Mumtaz Mahal accompanied him. But unfortunately she died in childbirth at Burhanpur. It is interesting to know she had given birth to fourteen children, of whom only four sons and three daughters survived. When Mumtaz Mahal died, she was just 39 years old. Shahjahan did go into the deep sadness. Historical documents say that, there was no music, no celebration and no feasting of any kind in those 2 years.
Shahjahan then decided to erect a memorial to his queen in pristine marble that the world would never forget. The site selected for the tomb was a garden on Yamuna River's bank. The site was also chosen because it could be seen from Shahjahan's personal palace in Agra Fort.

Work on the museum began in 1633 and 22,000 workers labored for 17 and half years to build it! The most skilled architects, calligraphers, inlay craftsmen, stone-carvers and masons came from all across India and abroad. An expert in building the double dome came from Persia, The master mason was from Baghdad and an inlay specialist from Delhi was invited. The building material was also imported from different places. The corals came from Arabia, Onyx and amethyst from Persia and the garnets from Bundelkhand. Mumtaz Mahal's final resting-place was ornamented like a jewel-box of a Queen. The construction of Taj Mahal took 22 years and as much as 32 crore rupees to complete! It is said that Shahjahan wanted to build the replica just on the opposite river bank but with black marble. But the estimated cost was around 4 times the construction cost of Taj Mahal. For the reason he had to drop the idea.

The Taj Mahal is and will remain in the heart of every lover throughout the world. It is an experience which you should have at least once in a lifetime!
